Priyanka Chopra turns singer

Universal Music Group and Desi Hits have signed a worldwide recording agreement with award-winning Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra.

As part of this global deal, Priyanka will release her debut music album in North America and other International markets.

A trained western Classical singer, Priyanka is currently writing and recording her debut pop album, which will be sung in English.

Troy Carter, CEO of Atom Factory, who also manages Lady Gaga, has signed with Priyanka to manage her music career across the globe.

"It has been a long cherished dream which is finally coming true", said Priyanka Chopra about her music debut. "Music has always been a passion and now I have been given the opportunity to share it with the world. I am privileged to be a part of the Universal Music - Desi Hits! family and to be working with some of the most illustrious names in the music industry. This is a fascinating new experience for me. I've already started working on the album. It's scary, but so very exciting as I begin this exciting new journey", added Priyanka

Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Kareena set to rock Eid event in Dubai

Dubai, August 2 : Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan along with Indian musicians Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan and actresses Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor are all set to perform at an Eid event in Dubai.

American rapper 50 Cent and Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram will enthral music buffs at the event as well.


The show that will also feature a host of Arab, Iranian, Indian and Filipino performers, will be held on the sidelines of a consumer fair called Shoppiesta, and continue for five days at Meydan from August 3 with every night featuring two concerts.


According to organizers, apart from the concert, there will be shopping stalls, adventure sports arcades and a host of other entertainment and lifestyle attractions as well.


“We’re aiming for the masses. The majority of the tickets are going to be very well priced, starting at Dh40 for the concert and Dh5 for entry to the fair,” Gulf News quoted Krishna Ramanathan, the managing director of Citron, which owns Shoppiesta, as saying.


“This is not an elitist event. The event will feature all the things Dubai does best, from adventure sports, shopping and leisure activities during the five-day public holiday period all under one roof and all at very affordable prices,” Ramanathan added.

Priyanka Chopra to play role similar to Heroine?

Film maker Madhur Bhandarkar might be disappointed by the shelving of his most ambitious movie, Heroine due to actress Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy. But now there are many candidates in the industry who are ready to be a part of the project.

There are possibilities that actresses like Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra might even be a part of the project instead of Ash. But for now, Priyanka has well in advance planned to essay the role of an actress, similar to that of Ash in another movie.

Priyanka and Shahid Kapoor are now preparing for their next venture with film maker Kunal Kohli. Now that Ash’s movie with Bhandarkar is shelved, the road is clear for Kohli, who is also preparing a movie based on the similar subject.

This was exactly the reason why the former Miss World 2000 winner refused to do Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’ as she had known that she was doing the same thing with Kohli. Its just that the setting is different and will have a more Kunal Kohli look to it. While all the Bhandarkar movies look dark and scary, Kohli might make it look colorful yet dark in his own style. If at all the Ash movie had worked out then both the movies would have definitely got in to competition.

Priyanka Chopra turns 29 on Monday

Mumbai, July 18 : The Desi Girl of Bollywood Priyanka Chopra returned back to Mumbai on Saturday after spending a long vacation in US.

The B-Town sizzler is looking forward to spend some quality timne with her family as she turns 29 on Monday.

"Heading home..LAs been amazing..but looking forward to seeing my family..my dad n my brother esp with everything thats happenin wanna b home," Priyanka tweeted couple of days back.

But the busy actor of Bollywood has already started working on her films as she tweeted on her projects and works: "Back in Mumbai. Loving the rains. On my way to set to shoot for Ra.One. Should be super fun."

Meanwhile there is good news for her fans as a number of movies starrimg her are scheduled to hit the screens in the coming months.

On one hand she is busy shooting a cameo in the upcoming flick Ra.One featuring Shah Rukh Khan.

At the same time the first trailers of Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2' featuring Khan and Piggy Chops have already hit the big screens.

"Lemme know what yall think of the trailer........." tweeted Priyanka.

Priyanka Chopra turns 29

Mumbai, Jul 18 : Top Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra turned 29 today but is in no mood to celebrate her birthday after the 13/7 serial blasts in the Metropolis.

''I wish the carnage will stop as innocent people are becoming victims of the bomb blasts'', she said.

''It will only be a quiet dinner with a select few, people who matter to me'', the actor said, adding that she would be spending some quality time with her parents and brother. 

Priyanka returned to the city last week-end after a short trip to the US. 

The much-sought after actor has signed up some new and exciting projects. A number of movies, featuring Priyanka, are lined up for release in the coming months, industry sources said.

Kunal back to books for flying exam

Actor Kunal Kapoor, whose second passion after acting is flying planes, is busy with physics and mathematics queries for his flying exam so that he can get his licence soon.

Kunal has been been spending a considerable amount of time locked up in his study for good results and enjoying going back to books.

"I remember, in school, I used to dread exams but for an actor, every Friday is like the biggest possible exam. So now, every other exam really seems like a cakewalk. And it's actually great fun going back to books. It takes you back to your college and school days, especially the dozing off before the end of the lecture bit. I am loving the experience!" said Kunal.

The 33-year-old will be seen next in Farhan Akhtar's "Don: The Chase Continues" with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka Chopra's 'Don 2' stunt double dies

New Delhi, July 12 : Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's "Don 2: The Chase Continues" stunt double Bibi, a girl from Berlin, passed away Monday due to unknown reasons. Priyanka, and her co-star, Shah Rukh Khan paid their condolences on Twitter.

 "It's shocking how unpredictable life can be. Bibi, my stunt double from Don 2 passed away. Taught me all I did in the film," Priyanka posted on her Twitter page.

"RIP Bibi... here's a prayer for her and courage her family...from all of us on Don 2," added the 28-year-old, who is said to have some heavy duty action sequences in the movie.

Shah Rukh, who plays the main lead, wrote: "A prayer from all in Don 2 for our friend & stunt girl Bibi...who left us for a better place. Lov u (sic)."

However, both the actors did't say what was the reason behind Bibi's death.

"Don 2: The Chase Continues", directed by Farhan Akhtar, is the sequel to the 2006 film, "Don: The Chase Begins Again", which itself is a remake of the 1978 film "Don".

The film is set for release in Dec 2011.

Heroine postponed, Priyanka Chopra not to replace Aishwarya Rai

The shooting of Madhur Bhandarkar's "Heroine" has been put off because of Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy, but Priyanka Chopra has denied that she wants to replace Ash.

Aishwarya, 37, plays the lead role in "Heroine".

"At this point, nothing is more important than Aishwarya's well being and good health," producers UTV said.

"We have all agreed that the best step would be to avoid shooting further, rather than proceeding with an incredibly demanding schedule over the coming months," it said.

 
Meanwhile, Priyanka has rubbished reports that she might replace Aishwarya in "Heroine".

"Read some stupid article about how i wanna do Madhur Bhandarkar's film HEROINE... I think Madhur is an amazing director and. It'll be amazing to work together again but GUYS this one aint it!!! I wish him and Aishwarya lots of luck with the film," the Bollywood star posted on Twitter.

"I also wish that journos would actually do some journalism rather than scriptwriting and stop deciding my next moves!!!" she added.

The project, also starring Arjun Rampal, was announced during the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra paired for 2 States

There has been a lot of discussions surrounding  the casting of the movie ‘2 States’, which is based on Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’. But after some time, the casting of the movie has been finalized, and it will have Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

The past few days has seen some questions raised only about the female lead of the movie, as Shahrukh was already finalized. Earlier, director Vishal Bhardwaj had insisted on having a fresh face to play the role of a south Indian girl, but later Bhardwaj and Shahrukh had decided that Priyanka would be best for the role. Questions were also raised if the ‘Kaminey’ actress being a Punjabi would be able to pull off the role of a south Indian role.
Now even the producer Sajid Nadiadwala and the director are convinced that the actress can work on the south Indian accent to do justice to the role. There was also a point when the makers of the movie were considering a south Indian actress for the role. The movie will go on floors in the second half of the year 2012. 2 States is a story of two youngsters in love and belong to two different states, Punjab and Tamil Nadu. The story is about the struggle of the couple to convince their parent for their wedding.
If Priyanka is able to match the class of the south Indian accent, this will prove her ability to become a great actor. Time will tell!

Bollywood is magic, says Ontario Premier

Toronto, June 24 : The song, the dance, the drama, the action withstanding - Bollywood is "magic", said Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty at the inaugural press conference of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards here Thursday.

"More than the glamour, action, drama, Bollywood is all about magic!" McGuinty, who heads the government of Canada's largest province of which Toronto is capital, told reporters.

"We have the second largest community of Indians living outside Canada. But of course the Canadians should be prepared to be awed and amazed by the magic of Bollywood. Canadians will soon know look at Shah Rukh Khan as Johnny Depp and Priyanka Chopra as the Angelina Jolie of Bollywood," he added.

McGuinty recalled a strange but humourous brush that he had with the frenzy attached with the Hindi film industry n his last visit to Mumbai.

"I came for an event, and the paparazzi went click, click...till one man said...'Sir, you're blocking my view of Celina Jaitley'! I was zapped. I have never been able to recover from that...but that gave me a good sense of how crazy people are for Bollywood," he said.

IIFA is a three-day extravaganza and has brought a flurry of stars including Mallika Sherawat, Anil Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Boman Irani, among others to Toronto. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be adding glamour to the event too.

Indian consul general Preeti Saran hopes the event will boost the bilateral relations between the two countries with Bollywood's "midas touch".

Priyanka Chopra no longer a part of Kaminey Sequel

After the success of the movie ‘Kaminey’, which starred actor Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, the makers of the movie are all set to make a sequel of the movie. While most of the Bollywood sequels retain their earlier cast, reports have claimed that Priyanka will not be a part of the sequel.

And the alleged reason behind Priyanka’s absence from the movie is the cold-war between Shahid and Priyanka. Sources from the production unit have said that Shahid has refused to work with Priyanka in any of the future projects after they finsihed filming Kunal Kohli’s upcoming movie.

But the makers of ‘Kaminey 2’ have denied the reports saying that the news is false and that the actress is not a part of the movie as she does not fit in the sequel. Director Vishal Bhardwaj is currently working on the script of the movie.

After ‘Kaminey 2’ the director will be working with Ajay Devgn for a movie that is also co-produced by him. Vishal has told Shahid to work on his six packs for the sequel of ‘Kaminey’. Vishal will also be directing the movie ‘2 States’ along with Shahrukh Khan. 2 states is the book written by the popular author Chetan Bhagat.
